Director of Corporate Events
Leigh Butterfield has joined The Finishing Touch in the key role of Director of Corporate Events. Leigh recently left her role as Managing Partner, Operations – Events at Euro RSCG Skybridge and has taken up the challenge of growing the company’s Corporate Division. “We already do a lot of corporate work, but my job is to expand that and really drive the corporate offer,” she said. “The Finishing Touch has a strong reputation in the conference and party market, but we have a full service offer and that’s something I’ll be looking to drive awareness of.”

‘Wright’ p lace at the ‘Wright’ time
Our very own Event Manager Roderick Bradley has made his Gladiator debut as Spartan; he was handpicked to audition by the shows host Ian Wright when working at a Finishing Touch event! Although Rod and his biceps will be missed, we wish him all the best in his new TV career. Catch him Sunday on Sky One at 6pm.

The current economic and ecological climate

We have all heard the hype surrounding the credit crunch but what does it mean to the events industry?

In the face of the current credit crunch, clients are opting for fewer but quality events. Whilst The Finishing Touch Christmas calendar is still full, clients appear not to be holding their spring or summer events and investing in more elaborate events instead. By adopting our cost saving tips you can make your budget stretch further.

Monday is the new Friday. Rather than hosting your party on Thursday or Friday which are prime days, save money by holding it on Monday or Tuesday. Alternatively, kill the January blues without killing your budget by bucking the trend and hosting a post Christmas party. If cost cutting isn’t your motivation, use the extra money you save to lay on transport to and from the venue for your staff, I’m sure it would be appreciated by all.

Rather than eating into your budget with an expensive audio-visual package, allow your guests to enjoy and be inspired by some of the fabulous buildings found within the UK, and save money in the process. Whatever your taste – art deco, elaborate or old-fashioned architecture you can create the mood with a basic and cheap uplighting package.

As a result of the current ecological climate clients are beginning to realise that a sustainable policy equals a sustainable company, making responsible environmental activity good for both our business and the planet. We look to work with suppliers and venues that have a commitment to social responsibility with the aim to ‘reduce – reuse – recycle’ as much as possible.

A campaign has recently been launched encouraging the public to drink tap water, why not replace bottles of mineral water with jugs of iced water at your next event. It’s not only environmentally friendly it is also free!
